The Talking Drum is a musical instrument which originates from West Africa. The tone of the drum can be changed by squeezing the strings under one arm. These tone changes are used in some parts of Africa as a means of communication. The Talking Drum is also widely used in African music making - particularly in Nigeria and Senegal.

The drum, which measures 30cm (12") in height and 16cm (6") in diameter, is fully playable and has been painted with a lovely tribal image. It would make an excellent gift to give to those who are interested in collecting unusual musical instruments or unique items in general.
