The snake charmer is an ancient instrument that has its roots in Indian culture. During street performances the charmer will carry a snake that is contained within a pot. When the performance is ready to commence the charmer starts to play the instrument and the snake emerges from the pot and moves from side to side as if hypnotised.

This is a genuine snake charmer that has been imported from India. As each one is individually handmade by local craftsmen their locations vary, although they all come from around the Delhi area. The instrument plays similar to a flute so it can be used by just about anybody. There are six holes carved into the snake charmer so that different chords can be played. You have to take responsibility for finding your own snake to play it to though!
