Lucky Cat Money Box

Traditional Japanese Cat to bring good fortune.

£7.99

The Money Cat is a traditional Japanese ornament which is said to bear the owner good fortune. The cat, locally known as Maneki Neko, has been a staple in Japanese households since the early 17th century. They are considered wise and lucky spirits who are believed to bring luck.

This Lucky Cat is beckoning with its right paw. In Japanese culture the raising of the right paw is believed to encourage wealth.  For this reason you will see many of these Maneki Neko money boxes in Japan.  At the top of the cat is a small opening in which coins can be deposited and there is a removable rubber stopper at the bottom to release the coins.

The cat is beautifully decorated with reds and greens and his chest is covered in glitter. It would make an excellent decoration or, a fun way to teach children the value of money!

Please be aware that this is a Money Cat where the arms do not move.

Measures 15cm (6") in height and 9cm (3.5") in diameter.
