The Lucky Cat is a traditional Japanese ornament which is said to bear the owner good fortune. The cat, locally known as Maneki Neko, has been a staple in Japanese households since the early 17th century. They are considered wise and lucky spirits who are believed to bring good fortune.

Placing a battery (which is included) inside the Lucky Cat sees the cat beckoning with its left paw. In Japanese culture the raising of the left paw is believed to encourage visitors. For this reason you will see many of these Maneki Neko decorating business premises. They are also found within some Japanese homes for those that wish to encourage visitors to the house.

This Maneki Neko measures 18cm (7") in height and 10cm (4") in diameter.
