This thumb piano has been imported from South Africa. It has been handmade and is very easy to play. Just hold the Kalimba in one hand whilst plucking the metal bars with the other.

The instrument is tuneable and has a eight note range, meaning the pitch can be changed to your liking. Known also as a Calimba or Karimba, the musical instrument originated in Zimbabwe and was played by the Shona people when settling Mozambique. The Shona people still use the instrument to this day during their ceremonies.

This ethnic musical instrument would make an excellent gift to give to someone who likes unusual hand made items. It would also be appreciated by those with an interest in African instruments.
