| Russian dolls for those who like something with a contemporary look. This is where it all started. Lena has been supplying me with dolls for a couple of years now and when she invited me to join her for a week in her home-town of Krasnozavodsk I jumped at the opportunity. Lena has been painting Russian dolls for over 17 years and produces some of the most stunning designs I have ever seen! It takes many hours for Lena to paint the dolls and having had the pleasure of seeing Lena working in her apartment I can confirm she is a perfectionist! It was during a visit together at a local market in Moscow that we met a fellow artist called Sergey Sobolev from the town of Peresvet. He also paints his Russian dolls in a contemporary style but they are very much different to those that Lena paints. |
